The first series of swimming lessons
At Swim-ABC, a lot of attention is paid in the beginning to clearing children from water. This is a very important period. It lays the foundation for learning to swim with Lifeguard Certification. Children learn to float on the chest and back, enter and climb out of the water, turn from chest to back to chest, go under water, look under water and search. These things ensure that children get to know the water and feel comfortable in it.
Many exercises are offered in the form of games, because that is the best way for young children to learn something. So do not think that the child is only playing in the water. Every game has a purpose. After this period of clearing the water, it is time for the next phase: the swimming strokes.
Swimming strokes and even more skills
In the Swim ABC, children learn four swimming strokes from scratch: single backstroke, breaststroke, front crawl and back crawl. Much attention is paid to all kinds of exercises in deep water, such as different ways of entering the water, swimming underwater, climbing and clambering on a raft and going to the side and to the bottom. A child learns these skills to cope with unexpected situations and to have fun in the water.
Requirements for the Swimming ABC
- Requirements National Swimming Diploma A
- Requirements National Swimming Diploma B
- Requirements National Swimming Diploma C
National Swimming Certificates
The National Swimming Safety Standard with the National Swimming Diploma C is attainable for almost everyone. Special attention is paid to children with a (temporary) disability. A large number of these children obtain the swimming certificate, but if that takes a long time or is not feasible, then there are the National Swimming Certificates A, B and C. Swimming certificates, just like the Swimming ABC, are steps towards swimming safety. With every Swimming Certificate there is a mandatory part that has a certain degree of swimming safety and an open part that a child may or may not meet.
